New Zealand Permanent Resident Visa permits to travel to and from New Zealand any time you like, without a time limit on stay in New Zealand. If you want to travel, your visa must be in a valid passport. If your passport expires, you must apply to transfer your visa to a new passport before you can travel.

What are the minimum stay requirements to maintain the permanent residency in New Zealand?
I heard that the PR is for life, but not sure if that is confirmed.

Please note that initial resident visa is issued with two years of travel conditions. Then after two years resident visa holder can apply for permanent resident visa (PRV). Once a person has PRV they don't need to come to NZ anymore unless they wish to do so.
