Startup visas are currently suspended; we are waiting for the issuance of new quotas. Requirements include at least 50,000 euros for the sole purpose of establishing the startup and a detailed business plan. The key to obtaining clearance from the Ministry is being able to submit an “innovative” project rather than the availability of funds.

What criteria must foreign entrepreneurs meet to launch their start up in Italy?
I'm a businessman from a non-EU country looking to set up an online delivery service business in Italy, which I've already successfully tested in my home country. What do I need to do in order to be successful when applying for a startup visa? Does it have to be a new start up or can I open a franchise? Also, how long does it take to get a startup visa in Italy these days?

In order to launch a startup in Italy, you could open a franchise or set up a secondary branch of your enterprise. It goes without saying that both have to meet the general requirements set for startups. You should get a startup visa in a couple of months, once all the papers are ready.
