What is the status of the proposed “green visas” in the Portuguese program?

I read about some interest in Portugal to allow investment into industries like agriculture and renewable energy. Has this so-called “green visa” become a reality for future immigrant investors? What are its requirements and how do we find acceptable projects for investment?

The green visa proposal has been approved in the Portuguese parliament. However, it still must be analyzed and approved by the president of the Portuguese republic. If approved, it has to be reviewed again by the parliament before it becomes definitive, so at the moment there is no further information regarding this program. Nonetheless, according to the project, the investment (at the moment, minimum investment is set at 500,000 euros) will be made in ecological projects such as biological agriculture and projects related to renewable energy or related to ecological tourism, either in individual name or through a company. Unfortunately, we don’t have more information. However, we will be following the progression of this proposal in order to be able to give more detailed information regarding it.
