What is the current status of Malta’s permanent residency program?

The EU has recently put a lot of pressure on the Maltese government to close its investment immigration program. What changes should investors looking to gain permanent residency and citizenship expect in Malta’s current program?

    The Malta Permanent Residence Programme (MPRP) was launched on the 29th of March this year, replacing the long-standing permanent residency programme, the Malta Residency and Visa Programme (MRVP), which was launched in 2016. The new programme, MPRP, is open for applications and there have been no amendments to the legislation governing the programme.
