EU citizen resident legally in Italy for at least four years can apply for Italian citizenship, however, you have to meet another requirement related to personal earnings. Indeed, with regards to the required earnings, you should provide evidence of an annual income of at least 8,263.31 euros and show local authorities that you have gotten the said amount for the three years preceding the application for citizenship. Assuming you have enough money and can prove you have been living in Italy for four years, at the moment you submit the application, you also have to provide the Italian Government with a birth certificate translated and issued in accordance with the instructions contained in the application form, a Certificate of Permanent Stay issued by the Council of Residence, a Criminal Records Certificate from the country of origin. Anyway, consider some expenses like stamp duties and processing fees for approximately 300 euros.
