Working in foreign countries while traveling on a tourist visa is technically illegal in most places and so it’s critical to understand the visa, residency and citizenship landscape to carve the best plan for you and your business. If you’re looking to physically base yourself in Antigua for longer periods each year and continue working for a business (perhaps it’s your own business even) that is based outside of Antigua & Barbuda, you can apply for the Nomad Digital Residence (NDR) Visa. Once issued, the Nomad Digital Residence (NDR) Visa gives the successful applicant and dependents, if any, the right to reside in Antigua and Barbuda for up to two years. Visa holders will be able to travel into and out of the country as they wish for the period of the visa, and have to maintain accommodation in the country. Accommodation would be a long-term lease on a villa or condo, for example. The visa is intended for non-nationals who are employed or self-employed in a country other than Antigua and Barbuda, and who are resident and employed by a company registered and operating outside of Antigua and Barbuda. The visa does not make you liable for tax in Antigua & Barbuda, and you will remain a tax payer in your home country wherever you are formally resident. You can apply for your NDR visa via a licensed government agent and the cost is fairly minimal. If you’re interested in becoming a permanent resident of Antigua & Barbuda, I would advise speaking to an immigration lawyer, or licensed agent for the citizenship program to explore the various pathways.

What options do foreign investors have to stay in Antigua and Barbuda if they want to set up a remote working base for their global business operations?
I'm a U.S.-based investor looking to set up a remote working base in Antigua and Barbuda for myself and my business associates. For example, we would like to spend 6 months a year here in the US and the rest in the Caribbean. What short- and long-term options do you suggest?

For speed and cost, I would suggest exploring the Digital Nomad option which allows one to live/work in Antigua for up to 2 years.
