I want to apply for Golden Visas for myself, my wife and my two kids. Do all of us need to travel to Greece prior to the application, or none of us needs to?
According to the Greek immigration law, all applicants (main and dependent) shall travel to Greece before or on the same date of the submission of the applications to the immigration office for the issuance of the permanent residence permits. In your case, all of you (4 applicants) shall travel to Greece just once before or on the same date of the appointment for the submission of the applications in the immigration office.
All of you need to enter in Greece at least once in order to give fingerprints at Immigration Office. Before that, only main applicant should come in order to buy the property.
So before the application submission, you and your wife have to travel in Greece to sign such the power of attorney for yourselves and for your children. During this visit, if your lawyer has already arranged the appointment with the Immigration Authorities, you could also implement the step for biometric data submission at the same time. Please be advised that the children below six years old are not obliged for biometrical data submission. If this schedule does not work for you, the applications can be filed by your authorized lawyer and a written notification will be given for the applicants to define a specific date for submitting their biometric data, required for the issue of the residence permit, in consultation with the attorney, so that this date is convenient for the applicants. In any case, since the applications must be handled quickly and should not remain pending for a long time, the attendance of the applicants for submitting their biometric data should be completed within six months from the time of application and in any case before the lapse of one year.
Please be aware that in order to be able to apply for Golden Visas, you will need first to have an eligible (with Schengen visa) access to the country.
You and your family only need to come in Greece a few days before the Golden visa application. But for purchasing the property, you can sign a POA to your lawyer at the Embassy.
Usually, the main applicant has to travel to Greece once at the initial stage of the Golden Visa and prior to the application in order to conclude some necessary formalities that will enable him/her to proceed with the property purchase, like the opening of a bank account. The only time that all the family members need to travel to Greece is at the time of the submission of their biometric data.
