Inês Azevedo is an experienced immigration lawyer. She is associated with Azevedo Ascenso Migration, Tax & Legal, a law firm based in Lisbon, Portugal.

The firm focuses on personalized support for international investors in Portugal and provides legal counselling throughout all stages of the process.

As an attorney, she specializes in migration law, real estate law, and corporate law. From 2013 to 2015, Azevedo worked for the Portuguese government as Deputy to the Secretary of State and Assistant to the Minister for Regional Development. She was in charge of the migration portfolio and was responsible for establishing the Portuguese migration policy. She also worked towards restructuring the High Commission for Migration, adjusting the institution to the new needs concerning migration, as well as to the new needs of international migrants in Portugal.

Prior to joining the government of Portugal, Azevedo worked as a lawyer at prestigious Iberian law firms: Miranda (2012-2013), CMS Rui Pena & Arnaut (2008-2012), and Úria e Menendez (2004-2006), where she developed her skills in energy law, public law and real estate law.

Azevedo graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Lisbon; she has a master’s degree in international development and cooperation, and has completed two post-graduate courses in energy law and tax law. She also completed the ISEP Program – INSEAD Social Entrepreneurship Program.

She has been a member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 2006.
