Grenada Citizenship by Investment Program Overview

Grenada’s Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Program launched in 2013, granting direct citizenship to individuals who make a qualifying investment in the country.

No prior or subsequent residency is required. Two routes are available: a non-refundable contribution to the National Transformation Fund (NTF) from US$235,000, or a purchase in a government-approved real estate development from US$270,000.

Eligible dependants include a spouse, dependent children up to age 30 in full-time tertiary education, and dependent parents or grandparents aged 55 and over.

Eligibility Requirements

The main applicant must be at least 18 years old, in good health, and able to demonstrate the legal source of funds for the investment.

Two investment routes are available, as follows:

National Transformation Fund (NTF) Contribution

  • Minimum non-refundable contribution of US$235,000 for a single applicant, a couple, or a family of up to four members
  • US$25,000 per additional dependant under 18 (after the third dependant)
  • US$50,000 per additional dependant aged 18 and over (after the third dependant)
  • Additional sibling: US$75,000
  • Contributions are non-refundable and paid only after receiving approval in principle

Real Estate Investment

  • Minimum purchase of US$350,000 as a sole investor in a government-approved real estate project, or US$270,000 per investor if at least two investors are purchasing into a project with a combined total of US$440,000 or more
  • A non-refundable government fee of US$50,000 per application applies in addition to the investment
  • The property must be held for five years. Only after this period can it be resold to another CBI investor as a qualifying investment
  • Investment must be made through an Authorised Local Agent

Route to Citizenship

The programme grants citizenship directly. Upon approval and completion of the investment, the authorities issue a Certificate of Registration of Citizenship, which the local agent uses to apply for the Grenadian passport on the applicant’s behalf.

No visit to Grenada is required during the process. Processing typically takes three to four months.

Citizenship is permanent and inheritable. Grenada permits dual nationality.

Mobility and Taxation

Mobility

A Grenadian passport provides visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to approximately 147 destinations as of 2026, including the full Schengen Area (up to 90 days in any 180-day period), the United Kingdom (up to six months for visits), China (up to 30 days), Russia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and South Korea.

Grenada is among a small number of countries worldwide whose passport allows visa-free access to the Schengen Area, the UK, China, and Russia simultaneously.

Grenadian citizens are eligible to apply for the US E-2 Treaty Investor Visa, which allows entry to the United States to develop or manage a business in which the holder has made a substantial investment.

As a member of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), Grenadian citizens have the right to live and work freely across member states, including Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Grenada is also a Commonwealth member, which may provide access to British consular assistance in countries where Grenada has no diplomatic mission.

Tax

Grenada does not impose capital gains, wealth, inheritance, or gift taxes. There is no tax on foreign-sourced income for individuals who are not tax residents of the country.

Those who hold citizenship but do not reside in Grenada are not automatically subject to Grenadian personal tax.

How to Apply

The program is administered by the Investment Migration Agency Grenada (IMA Grenada), established under the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Act No. 15 of 2013.

Applicants cannot apply directly to IMA Grenada. Instead, they must work with an Authorized International Marketing Agent. This agent coordinates the process with an Authorized Local Agent.

The typical process runs as follows:

  • Step 1: Select an Authorized International Marketing Agent. The agent handles all communication with IMA Grenada on the applicant’s behalf.
  • Step 2: Prepare documentation. The agent assists with completing official forms, medical examination, fingerprints, police certificates, and supporting documents — all submitted in English with appropriate legalization.
  • Step 3: Submit application. The Authorized Local Agent submits the completed application to the Citizenship by Investment Committee (CBIC), which then conducts a mandatory interview with the applicant.
  • Step 4: Due diligence and committee review. The government conducts background checks, and the CBIC issues a recommendation. The Minister of Citizenship makes the final decision. Processing typically takes three to four months.
  • Step 5: Payment and passport. Upon approval in principle, the applicant makes the investment or contribution. IMA Grenada issues the Certificate of Registration of Citizenship, and the agent applies for the passport, which is delivered remotely.
