I run my own company in the US and I’m now interested in opening a franchise in Canada. Since this would require frequent travel between the two destinations, I would like to also gain long term residency in Canada. What are my options?

Canada where you intend to open such a franchise. There can be many ways to get long term residency in Canada, and most likely you would be starting with a work permit, leading towards PR and eventually citizenship.
