Can I build my own property worth $300,000? I heard that the investment amount will increase to $500,000 this fall. Do I just need to apply before that date or will I need to start construction?

For the QIV you can obtain permanent residency in Panama, and it requires a minimum $300,000 investment under current regulations. As long as the property purchase price with its declared improvements are proven with the required investment amount, you are elegible. Just note the investment must be in place prior to filing the application. Passport is only available upon obtainance of citizenship, which can only be applied for after having permanent residency for at least 5 years.
