I become a permanent resident of Canada several years ago through its provincial nominee program. Due to my business, I have to travel outside the country next month for an extended period of time. I heard that I might need to apply for a travel document. Under what condition do I need a travel document? Currently I couldn’t decide how long I need to be abroad. Can I apply for it when I am outside Canada?

The travel document is something specific to U.S. law. Canada and the U.S. have different law systems. For Canada the calculation is different also for renewing the PR.
