I’m interested in investing 20 million euros as deposit in a Luxembourg financial institution, but I’m not clear as to what happens if I’m unable to maintain the money for 5 years for some unforeseeable reason in the future. Will I lose a percentage of my investment and my residence permit immediately? Is there any flexibility for investors?

The term deposit for five years is a prerequisite for an investor’s visa. Terms and conditions of the deposit may vary from bank to bank. Early termination might be possible only after the Ministry for Foreign Affairs gives permission, which would first cancel the permanent residence permit. You could apply for another residence permit based on another investment or immigration program.
