I heard that the government of New Zealand is considering restricting real estate purchases from foreigners. Does this apply to foreign citizens who hold visas or permanent residency in New Zealand? If so, when can the details be expected to come out?

Foreign nationals cannot own real estate in New Zealand. However, once you become a resident you can own real estate, but this cannot be used as part of your investment in New Zealand.
