How can I use my existing U.S. visa as a transition to Canada?

I have a US H-1B visa that’s about to expire soon because I’m unable to find employment. Do I have any options to quickly move to Canada and legally look for jobs there with this visa?

Any job in Canada - unrelated to any US or other status - requires meeting Canadian requirements, and first and foremost, having a company in Canada that wants to sponsor that application. We would need more details otherwise in terms of possibilities assuming that someone does want to sponsor you.

Canada has introduced a new work permit for U.S. H-1B visa holders as of July 16th, 2023. You can apply online through the IRCC Portal, and you will need some documents to prove your eligibility, such as your current H-1B visa, proof of residence in the U.S., and a medical exam if required. You can find more information about this program and how to apply on the official website of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
