We hear a lot of noise about crypto currency. As commercial real estate developers we have not paid too close attention to this phenomenon, but perhaps we should. Could crypto currency cause any significant changes to commercial real estate markets? If so, what changes might occur?

I don’t see this used in large transactions or residential transactions much since one of the benefits is to not be able to find the source of funds, and the US government has been imposing more regulation or requiring transparency into real estate transactions. In addition, the wild fluctuations in value make this a very risky proposition, except to someone who acquired the currency at very low valuations.
